| When I purchased my San Juan 28, I looked around for internet based
resources for these boats; I found little for the 28's but a lot for the
smaller cousins.
I am not an "expert" in San Juan 28 boats; but I thought if I could pool together enough people & resources, I could make this a good place for others to stop by. So, in Sept 2000, I started a mailing list & these pages to help others. It was a slow going, with some Delphi web based discussions already in existence, I wasn't sure if it would fly. But slowly, I found I wasn't alone in disliking the web based discussions and the email list grew. In less than a year, the email list grew to over 30 members, and it was clear it was no longer "my list" -- it had become a needed resource and it belongs to all SJ28 owners. In May of 2002, "we" as a group, decided to become more formal, so instead of just being "josh's sanjuan28 pages" we became the the San Juan 28 Sailing Club. An internet based (ie: world wide) community of San Juan 28/29 boat owners. Today we have about 60 subscribers on the email list with roughly 1/3 are "active" in one way or another. In July of 2002 we became incorporated as a non profit corporation in the state of Washington. So, if you own a San Juan 28 or are interested in them, please join our list, all money received go directly to maintaining these pages, club outings, etc. |
